Poppy Who?
A LITTLE STORYI'm Poppy, and I love a good wedding, ok, no, too corny.....There are a few things I love in life, my family, travel, and dogs, Now London based, I grew up in Hampshire, and was described by my mother, and in multiple school reports as "if only we could channel her energy into something productive", cue falling into wedding photography, 10 years and 300 weddings on, it is still an excellent use of my excess liveliness.
Having always had a secret interest in photography, but 'politely suggested' science subjects would be a better use of my time, half way through my degree in Human Biology some crazy people asked me to photograph their wedding in July 2013. PANIC. they want me to photograph
THEIR WEDDING, ME! (what?!)
I contacted my buddy Seth Baines about a recent wedding he shot for advice. Little did I know he also had no idea how to photograph weddings, but he knew how to photograph other things. So we worked the weddings out together, and I owe 99% of what I know to him. Legend.
FAQs
I hate having my photo taken, and always look so awkward
DONT WORRY! It's my job to make you feel relaxed, and have fun....i've shot over 250 weddings and can safely say I am an expert in dealing with people who think they are awkward!
If we don't have an engagement shoot, is it cheaper?
I have a rule that I won't shoot a wedding if we don't do a practise shoot....I hate how formal the term Engagement shoot is......It is vital time to get over the first 20 minutes of 'getting into it', and for me to get to know you and how to get the best out of you. That 20 minutes of time it takes to relax into a photosession is not time I or you want to be wasting on the big day, thats time for at least a glass and a half of champers, and 3 canapes....and you don't want to miss that!
In all seriousness, having a practise shoot enables you to get all work nervousness about photos out of the way before the wedding, and also allow us to get the couple photos done in 15 minutes on the day, so you can spend more time enjoying the day with your family and friends, and I can spend more time capturing the natural moments!
